West Brom predicted line-up for Southampton as James Morrison contemplates how to attack home double-header
Boss James Morrison was rightly pleased with a lot of what he saw from Albion in Saturday's improved 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.
He knows, however, that victories are needed to keep Albion in the Championship in these final 10 games and given woes away from home they are more likely to come at The Hawthorns.
That means Wednesday's visit of Southampton and the home clash against Hull a few days later could be critical. Both are high-flying opposition pushing for promotion and that is a common theme in remaining home fixtures.
Morrison's 4-4-2 selection in the steel city was fascinating.
It is a big debate whether he favours that shape or has a more 'horses for courses' approach dependent on opposition.
He told the Express & Star on Tuesday when asked about formation preference: "I think just putting the right players in the right position and seeing what's the best way of attacking, what's the best way of defending, and then ultimately I want some consistency. That's the way I see it."
Morrison made a few big personnel calls at Bramall Lane including a rare start for January loan right-back Danny Imray. The Crystal Palace right-back gave his most promising Albion display yet and I suspect he keeps his place.
