West Brom Women book spot semi-final place after Wolves edged in Black Country derby - round-up
Albion Women boss Siobhan Hodgetts-Still is ready to target another shot at silverware after her team claimed a "deserved" Black Country derby success over rivals Wolves.
The Baggies secured their place in the last four of the National League Cup and a home tie with AFC Bournemouth thanks to the memorable 1-0 success on the road to their great rivals.
Albion's longest-serving player Hannah George was the quarter-final match-winning hero as the defender flicked in a header six minutes after the interval in Telford to hand the visitors victory over their league rivals.
Hosts Wolves were made to defend well in the closing stages to stop Albion adding to the score and boss Hodgetts-Still reckons her side well good value to win and make the last four.
“I’m super proud of the players after that performance," said Hodgetts-Still. "We’re delighted to get the win and through to the next round of the cup.
“The girls were excellent today, both in and out of possession. We executed the game plan brilliantly, we created some really good chances and we defended really well.
“I felt it was a top team performance.

“It was a great ball back in from Taylor (Reynolds) and Hannah took the goal well. In both halves, on the transition especially, we were a real threat – we caused them lots of problems.
“Without some great last-minute defending from them, we could’ve had a few more goals this afternoon."
An attendance of almost 600 fans watched on as Wolves, unbeaten and fighting for the Northern Premier title, crashed out of the competition.
The Baggies will host Bournemouth, also unbeaten title contenders but in the equivalent Southern Premier, on Sunday, February 1.
“We said at the start of the season we wanted to progress in every cup and we’re down to the last four now, it doesn’t get much better than that," added the Albion boss.
"We know what a good team AFC Bournemouth are, but we’ll stick to our task and plan for that game as we always do – let’s see if we can make a final again.”
Home boss Dan McNamara said in no uncertain terms his side were second best.
"It doesn't (sting) because we got what we deserved," said a frustrated McNamara. "We weren't at the races and West Brom fully deserved it. They fought like you have to in a Black Country derby.
"Too many of us watched today, we were miles off it and not good enough."
In Super League action, mid-table Villa were seen off at home by a late Manchester United surge.
Kirsty Hanson drew the Villa Park hosts level eight minutes before half-time but fourth-placed United netted three quickfire goals in the final 20 minutes to claim the points.
Birmingham City consolidated second in Super League 2 with a comprehensive 4-0 win at lowly Portsmouth.
Veatriki Sarri netted twice, with Lily Crosthwaite and debutant Wilma Leidhammar on target.
Kidderminster Harriers climbed above Stourbridge to leave their visitors in the National Division One Midlands drop zone with a 1-0 home win.
Seanna McCann scored early for her first Harriers goal to decide the contest.
Leigh Dugmore fired a second-half hat-trick as Hednesford Town climbed above visitors Port Vale in a mid-table battle in West Midlands Premier with a 4-2 victory.
The scoreline was level at half-time after Emily North's opener.
