West Brom Women boss 'proud' of side's display despite WFA Cup exit to Everton
Siobhan Hodgetts-Still has revealed her pride in Albion Women's performance despite a 5-0 WFA Cup exit to Everton.
The third tier Baggies faced a stern test against WSL outfit Everton at Alexander Stadium and ruthless starts to either half from the visitors took the fourth round tie away from the hosts.
Nicole Momiki struck a ninth-minute opener and added a stunning second 10 minutes before the break. Two-time winners Everton scored three goals in quick succession at the start of the second half to seal the tie with Ornella Vignola, Toni Payne and Isabella Hobson on target live on TNT Sport.
"It wasn't the result we wanted but Everton are a top WSL side," said Hodgetts-Still.
"I'm really proud of the performance the women put in, I thought they worked hard, limited chances. We were unsettled for 10 or 15 minutes at the start and they score, they get a 'worldie' for the second - I thought she was player of the match.
"Then three goals in seven minutes after the break where we were unsettled, but my team did well for the last 30 minutes."
The boss added: "The message (at half-time) was to stay in the game, that the players had done well, but whether we were playing Everton or our league on a Sunday the three goals conceded were disappointing.
"I told the girls to showcase what we could do, that those three goals were gone and they did that.
"We're frustrated and disappointed but for a WSL side to come here, with their class, being full-time, internationals in their squad, we should be proud."
Albion are fifth in the National Northern Premier and next face leaders Wolves in the National League Cup quarter-final in Telford on Sunday week.
