New Championship referee Ricardo frustrated visitors Albion at the MKM Stadium where hosts Hull ran out 1-0 winners and condemned the Baggies to an eighth straight away defeat.

Albion boss Mason felt Leicestershire official Ricardo got the late decision to show Gilchrist a straight red card for a high foot wrong - as video evidence proved the substitute right-back made no contact with Tigers winger Liam Millar.

But the Baggies head coach did not blame the man in the middle for the defeat and said he had no qualms with the penalty decision for Nat Phillips' handball on the stroke of half-time, converted by Oli McBurnie for the winner.

"I didn't really need to see a replay (of the red card), to be honest," Mason said. "When you're two yards away and the ref was seven or eight yards away, I think that view is enough.
