Hotshot Sule, 19, joined Motherwell on a season-long loan in the summer but found himself back at Albion and under the knife in August after picking up a quad muscle injury.

The frontman, originally from Scotland and the Celtic academy, had made a quick impression at Fir Park and three appearances, including one start, in the early-season Scottish League Cup prior to his setback.

Sule had successful surgery in August and in recent weeks has stepped up his physical work and been running at Albion's training base in Walsall.

"He was getting some good exposure, coming off the bench and getting some minutes, which was great for him and unfortunately picked up the injury," Albion under-21s boss Leigh Downing said.

"He's currently back at the training ground rehabbing with the physios and he's coming along with his plan in the timeframe that they want really.

"Hopefully once he completes that he'll head back out there, all being well."

Glasgow-born Sule moved to England and Albion in early 2023 and enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Baggies' second string last term, where he fired 12 goals.

He was set for a first spell of prolonged senior football with the Well and the hope is that can continue once the teen, who is 20 next April, is back to fitness.

Motherwell are mid-table in seventh in the Scottish Premiership.

Sule's Baggies youth colleagues currently sampling a first experience of regular senior action include midfielder Harry Whitwell, who has impressed with ambitious National League outfit Forest Green Rovers.

Sule's fellow academy forward Akeel Higgins is out on loan at Exeter City in League One and netted a first professional goal to remember last week in the Devon derby victory over Plymouth.
