The rare luxury Carlos Corberan hasn't been afforded during his West Brom reign

West Brom were in unchartered territory for a short period in their draw against Luton Town on Friday evening.

No, it wasn't the fact they were on the way to a fifth draw, the first time that has happened since 1999.

It was the fact they had to strikers playing up front - which has been a rare occurrence under Carlos Corberan.

In fact, it is a rare occurrence throughout modern football. The days of two strikers up top is almost a thing of the past in many corners of the game, and certainly for Albion it has been the case of playing one up top for some time.

And to be honest, it has largely been forced upon those in charge, whether it was Valerien Ismael, Steve Bruce and now Corberan.

The injury woes in the striking department have been a bone of frustration for some time now - and in the early months of this season it has felt that Albion have only had one credible option up front in the form of Josh Maja.

That credible option has performed superbly well, netting seven times in the opening weeks of the campaign. He returned to the scoresheet with a magnificent flicked finish at Luton on Friday, to show his goal drought could well be over.
