Carlos Corberan backs West Brom loan star
Carlos Corberan is confident loan midfielder Uros Racic will flourish during his time at Albion.
Giant midfielder Racic, 26, was one of the Baggies’ 11 summer recruits as he checked in on a season-long loan from Sassuolo in Italy.
The Serbia international made his full debut in Saturday’s home win over Plymouth and caught the eye. Racic checked into The Hawthorns late in the summer, on August 22, and Corberan previously said later recruits will take more time to get up to speed physically and tactically.
“I am very pleased with the things that I see,” Corberan said of Racic’s first start.
“I think that he still needs to adapt to the demands and tempo of the Championship. It is not the same to play in Serie A in Italy or in Portugal or in Spain, not more easy or more difficult, but not the same.
“In the Championship there are a lot of transition games and it is true we brought him in at the end of the market.
“The more he is with us I think, if he can keep this level of mentality, then the more things he can give us.”
Racic has enjoyed a strong career and played regular top-flight football in his homeland, as well as Spain, Portugal and Italy. His parent club Sassuolo were relegated from Serie A last term.
Corberan had previously used an unchanged XI in five Championship fixtures.
