Carlos Corberan has some decisions to make when it comes to his Albion side for tomorrow’s curtain-raiser at Queens Park Rangers.
There are not many who saw that coming a week or so ago!
The Baggies’ ranks were so threadbare at Blues last week the make-up of the bench left onlookers far more alarmed than a 4-1 defeat to the League One side.
But a couple of additions this week and the hope of a return to fitness at least gives Albion’s squad the semblance of a Championship outfit with some depth, rather than a bench full of youth players.
Gianluca Fabrotta and loanee Lewis Dobbin should both be pushing for Albion debuts after checking in this week from Juventus and Villa respectively.
Two of Carlos Corberan’s other new summer recruits, Paddy McNair and Devante Cole, would also provide the squad a shot in the arm if they are passed fit to feature among the 20-man ranks at Loftus Road. Striker Cole, 29, released by Barnsley after 18 goals in League One last term and brought into The Hawthorns on a free transfer, was deemed not ready to feature at Blues last weekend after no pre-season within a club.
