Ally Robertson: Can West Brom get that key striker in?

I would have kept Brandon Thomas-Asante at Albion. I wanted him to stay.

He’s only 25, I’d have thought we could’ve offered him another three-year contract, although it has been reported he did turn one down last summer.

Then the hope would’ve been we could have got other players in he could get on with and it could improve him and lift his value more.

Thomas-Asante has been our top scorer for two seasons. Yes, there were not too many goals, but we don’t have many forwards and that is why I think it is so important we kept hold of him.

He was in the final year of his contract, so I do understand it from that perspective and not wanting him leaving for nothing.

The big thing for us now is what can we do with the money Coventry paid us? Reports state it is a £2.5million deal and if some can go towards somebody else the manager has spotted then yes, great.
