Brentford launch investigation into complaints Julian Jeanvier spat at West Brom fans

Brentford are investigating complaints made by Albion fans that Bees defender Julian Jeanvier spat at them during today's game.

The alleged incident happened towards the end of the match at Griffin Park when Jeanvier's momentum took him off the pitch and in close proximity to the travelling support behind the goal.

Eyewitnesses claim Jeanvier reacted to verbal abuse from the away end by spitting at the fans.

At least one supporter emailed Brentford to complain about the incident, with others claiming a steward at the scene saw it.

One fan, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "The momentum of his run when he missed that chance at the end caused some fans by me to gesture at him.

"So he decided to turn around and spit in their general direction, but he sprayed me as well even though I wasn't involved.

"The stewards reported it as soon as it happened thankfully. Pretty disgusting behaviour."

Brentford have confirmed they are aware of the complaint and are investigating.
