West Brom to be backed by more than 3,000 fans in Brighton
Albion could be roared on by their biggest away following of the season this weekend – despite the six-hour round-trip to Brighton.
The Baggies have already sold around 3,200 seats for Saturday’s FA Cup fourth at the Amex Stadium and tickets are still being snapped up.
Albion have an allocation of 4,300 and Brighton have reduced prices to £15 for adults, £10 for concessions, and £5 for kids.
The biggest away following so far this season came when 3,750 Baggies travelled to the DW Stadium in October to ultimately see Wigan Athletic triumph 1-0 over Darren Moore’s men.
But Albion are on course to beat that on Saturday, despite the lengthy journey to the south coast.
The Amex Stadium has a capacity of 30,666, but away teams are allowed up to15 per cent of the allocation in the FA Cup.
In the EFL, away teams are given 2,000 seats but can negotiate more.
The Amex Stadium will boast a healthy crowd on Saturday as Brighton fans have also been snapping up tickets for the clash.
The Seagulls have sold more than 26,000 tickets in total with seats still being sold.
Demand for tickets has forced Brighton to open the upper tiers of the stand when initially, only the lower tiers were available.
Albion are also heading for a sell-out of their 2,900-seat allocation for the next away trip of the season at Stoke City on Saturday, February 9.
Although the Championship clash has been pushed back to 5.30pm to be broadcast live on Sky Sports, the Baggies have sold 2,300 tickets already and expect all tickets will be snapped up.
Interest in the team has improved this season as supporters flock to games to see Darren Moore’s men fight for promotion.
The home seats at The Hawthorns have sold out for the past four league fixtures in a row, with three of those matches being complete sell-outs thanks to the away fans buying all of their tickets too.
Meanwhile, Albion are interested in Charlton forward Karlan Grant, who has 14 goals in League One this season, but are focusing on other targets first.
And Albion’s FA Youth Cup fifth round tie has been scheduled for 3pm at Boreham Wood on the same day as the Stoke game.
