The former Wolves winger is currently training with the Baggies with a view to earning a short-term contract like Wes Hoolahan has.

Albion are in talks with his representatives about a potential deal, and it's believed there is a difference between his wage demands and what the Baggies are willing to pay.

Moore would also like to see the 30-year-old prove he is ready for the rigours of the Championship.

"Bakary’s fitness has got to a level," said Moore. "Obviously we’d like to see him get fitter and stronger but at the moment the position he is in is very good, we’re very happy. There's still no news to give."

Sako has been house-hunting in the area, and is believed to be confident of earning a deal.

The Mali international is traditionally an out-and-out attacking winger, but Moore is currently playing a 3-5-2 system with wing-backs.

He refused to divulge what position he was eyeing up Sako for.

"I can’t say too much at the moment but if things develop we can talk more in detail," said Moore. "At the moment he’s just training and getting fit.

"I will explain that if we do get round to signing him but at the moment he’s not our player to comment on."

Albion have already signed Hoolahan after he impressed on trial, and Moore confirmed the Baggies were looking at more free agents than just Sako.

"He’s one but there’s a few players out there," he said. "It’s whether they can do a job for the club.

"There could be more (on trial) in the weeks to come. There are players out there, there are agents and advisors letting us know their availability and if appropriate we’ll have a look at them.

"I’ve been surprised this year the amount of free agents out there, it’s been incredible.

"Is this where our game's gone? You have all these quality players out there?"

"We are looking at what’s out there in many areas of the team, all areas of the team. But they’ll only come to the club if they’re right for the club."

The Baggies are the league's top scorers and when it was put to Moore that Sako would find it difficult to break into the team if signed, he responded: "If it does happen."
