The Albion academy product netted in Stoke City's 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup this week.

It was his first goal since scoring for the Baggies in a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in February 2016, and it came just days before Stoke's visit to The Hawthorns this Saturday.

“It was one of the best feelings," said Berahino. "It’s been a while for me and I was a bit lost for a celebration there, but we celebrated together as a team.

"And I’m so happy I was able to finally do it in front of our fans."

Albion sold Berahino to Stoke in January 2017 for £12m, but it's taken the 25-year-old over a year and a half to notch his first Potters goal.

“It’s been tough," he said. "I came to the club and wasn’t able to hit the ground running, which was disappointing for me and for everybody else.

“It was a different role when I came here as well, playing as a lone striker, but this season I’ve started bright, I’ve taken my chances to play and I’ve managed to keep my place."

Berahino has improved this season under new boss Gary Rowett, and looked rejuvenated in a new role at No.10.

“I spoke to him (Rowett) before the season even started and he asked me to do certain stuff and I think I’ve done that for him," added Berahino.

“I’ve kept myself fit, I’ve worked really hard and I’ve earned my position in the team. It’s all about consistency now."
