Darren Moore brings former Bradford team-mate Wayne Jacobs in to help West Brom

Caretaker boss Darren Moore has parachuted former Bradford team-mate Wayne Jacobs into his Albion set-up.

Jacobs is a former left-back who made more than 300 appearances for Bradford across an 11-year period.

He also played for Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City, Rotherham United, and Halifax Town before returning to the Bantams as assistant manager.

He spent four years in that role between 2007 and 2011 and worked under Stuart McCall and Peter Taylor.

The 49-year-old has been brought in to the Baggies on a temporary basis by Moore to act as an extra pair of eyes on both the training pitch and match days.

Moore has faith in his former team-mate’s footballing brain following his two seasons at Bradford, but Jacobs has not been officially added to the coaching staff and has not been attending every training session.

He’s not directly involved with coaching but is being used by Moore as a trusted sounding board to bounce ideas off.

Goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler and under-23s boss James Shan are playing more prominent roles on the training pitch and at the weekend.

Cutler and Shan have been giving Moore help with sessions in the week and have both been seen speaking to him on the touchline during his first two games in charge.

Albion have picked up four points from those two matches to ensure they won't finish this season with the club's outright lowest post-war points tally.

"West Brom is a club I care about a lot," said Moore. "I just wanted to bring a family atmosphere to the club.

"My feeling is that everybody's equal, the jobs are just as important as each other right the way through the football club.

"That's all I've wanted to create and bring to the club – a togetherness.

"We're all in it together, that's what I feel. To get positive performances there's got to be unity at the club and that's what I'll strive for."

Because Shan has stepped up to the first team, under-18s boss Jamie Smith is taking charge of the under-23s.

They lost 2-1 to Middlesbrough on Sunday in their penultimate game of the season. Defender Kyle Jameson scored. On Saturday, the U18s drew 3-3 with Boro.
