The veteran midfielder, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, was pictured in Snobs nightclub on the eve of today's match with Burnley.

Pardew confirmed there was no curfew in place for Barry because of his injury, and that he showed up for treatment on his knee at the Palm training ground this morning on time.

But he believes the 37-year-old's decision to go out so close to a game was misjudged.

Barry's appearance in the nightclub angered Albion fans, partly because the former Aston Villa midfielder was one of four senior players who allegedly stole a taxi in Barcelona last month.

Some sections of the Smethwick End sang songs criticising the midfielder during today's game.

"I know he was in for treatment this morning and he was on time," said Pardew ."His engagements off the football pitch in his personal life is his personal life.

"He was under no jurisdiction with us. Was it wise to do that on the eve of a game? Probably not."

Albion lost 2-1 to Burnley at The Hawthorns today to extend their losing streak to nine games in all competitions.

Ashley Barnes's stunning acrobatic volley gave the Clarets the lead before former Baggies striker Chris Wood doubled their advantage 17 minutes from time.

Salomon Rondon pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute, but Albion couldn't find an equaliser.

"I was disappointed," said Pardew. "I thought the first goal they were lucky, they got a ricochet break, it was a great finish by the way.

"But the second goal we should do better. Ahmed (Hegazi) gets caught in a position he shouldn't have been, and he should have done better.

"Had that not gone in we might have got something out of the game."
