Final farewell planned for West Brom super fan Les James
An Albion superfan who followed the club for nearly 70 years will pass The Hawthorns for the final time - as details of his funeral were announced.
The club paid tribute to Les James following his death last month aged 91.
He was believed to be the oldest fan still regularly watching the Baggies home and away.
Les, from Smethwick, had been following Albion since the 1940s, experiencing plenty of highs and lows over the years, including the famous FA Cup win in 1968.
His funeral is due to take place on Tuesday, August 29. A procession will stop at The Hawthorns east stand car park at 11.45am before heading to Sandwell Crematorium.
Albion are also planning to pay tribute to Les at the first game of the season against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Les was honoured by the club in November 2015 to mark his 90th birthday, when he was invited as a special guest in the Regis Suite where he met some of his heroes from his years supporting Albion, including his all-time hero and record goalscorer Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown.
Albion said Les would be 'sorely missed' by everyone at the club.
Close friend and Albion season ticket holder Helen Allport said: "Les supported the team home and away, his last match was Swansea away on the final day of last season.
"If you ever asked Les what the score would be, he would always say 2-1 to Albion.
"I'll miss him terribly."
