James Morrison still part of the plans at West Brom

Tony Pulis has confirmed James Morrison remains very much part of his plans at Albion and claims it would take an ‘enormous offer’ for the club to even consider selling the midfielder this summer.

Morrison is closing in on a decade at The Hawthorns and recently became the 45th player to pass the 300-appearance mark for the Baggies.

The 30-year-old Scotland international endured a frustrating end to the Premier League campaign, starting just three of Albion’s final 11 matches and frequently having to make do with a place on the bench.

Yet Pulis has given no thought to Morrison leaving – unless Albion get an offer they can’t refuse.

“James is fine,” said Pulis, when asked if the long-serving midfielder was unhappy at being in-and-out of the team and whether he might be on the move this summer. “Unless someone comes in and offers an enormous amount of money for him. The issue (this summer) is that (skipper) Darren Fletcher is out of contract so something has to be resolved there.

“Morrison has a year left so we can determine that, with Fletcher we can’t. Unless he (Morrison) goes somewhere else and we agree. He can’t just walk out, that would have to be agreed between the two parties.”

Morrison’s future was the subject of intense speculation 12 months ago before he signed a new two-year contract which put him among the Baggies biggest earners.

The Middlesbrough academy product, who joined Albion for a fee of £1.5million in August 2007, spent the early months of the season sidelined with a hamstring injury but was then credited with helping spark a mid-season run which saw Pulis’ men win nine out of 14 Premier League games following his return to the side in November.

Yet his opportunities were largely limited to substitute appearances over the closing weeks of the season, with Pulis often preferring record signing Nacer Chadli.
