Hodgson, 69, has been out of work since England's disastrous exit to Iceland at Euro 2016.

Former Blues boss Gary Rowett has also thrown his hat into the ring, admitting it would be an 'amazing' opportunity.

"I'm sat at home waiting for the right opportunity to come along and, of course, Leicester would be an amazing one," Rowett told the BBC. Claudio Ranieri was sacked by the Foxes last week.

Meanwhile Hodgson has spoken of his delight to see the Baggies flying high this season.

Before the game with Bournemouth, Hodgson presented one of his former Albion favourites, James Morrison, with a signed shirt to commemorate his 300th game for the club.

Afterwards he said: "I had a wonderful time here which I really enjoyed and the club was great.

"It's a really good Premier League club this one; the people are really friendly, first class and the support for the club is also exceptional.

"I really enjoyed my time here and I'm delighted to see the club doing so well.

"I've seen one or two of the players on my travels but many I haven't and I was really looking forward to watching them play.

"The crowd were always great to me here. I always felt the work we tried to do was appreciated and it was nice to have a chance to say something to them."

Hodgson was treated to Albion's fourth home league win in a row as the Baggies came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 thanks to goals from defenders Craig Dawson and Gareth McAuley.

Albion are currently eighth in the league with 40 points, and are seven points clear of West Ham in ninth.
