Jose Mourinho defends referee after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Salomon Rondon incidents at West Brom
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho defended the performance of referee Anthony Taylor after his team's win at Albion.
Saturday evening's game at The Hawthorns contained several controversial moments.
Home supporters were left fuming at Taylor's decision not to show only a yellow card to Zlatan Ibrahimovic following a strong aerial challenge on Albion defender Craig Dawson in the first half.
Baggies striker Salomon Rondon then escaped with the same punishment during the second half despite appearing to aim a slap in the direction of United defender Marcos Rojo.
When asked specifically about the incident involving Rondon, Mourinho replied: "I think the referee did fine. The game was correct, the game was physical, big strong guys, they (Albion) are very physical, we try and cope with that.
"Why a red card for Rondon? I agree with the yellow card. Yellow card and go again. "Sometimes you look for decisions but I think it is better for the ref to keep control of the game and speak with the players, communicate with them. I am happy with the decision."
Both managers, meanwhile, declined to address the incident involving Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker's two goals earned United their win, though he pushed the boundaries of what constitutes fair play with a challenge on Dawson which left the Albion man on the ground.
When asked to comment, Pulis replied: "Ask the 26,000 supporters here what they thought. I am not commenting."
