West Brom's young guns sent out on loan
Albion continue to send their promising youngsters out on half-season loans with 18-year-old Chay Scrivens the latest to be given an opportunity to shine elsewhere.
The teenage winger has joined National League side Torquay United until January ahead of Albion's pre-season friendly with the Devon outfit at Plainmoor tonight.
Scrivens is the latest teenager from Albion's academy to be sent out on loan to lower or non-league opposition for the first half of the season.
Tyler Roberts, 17, has joined League One Oxford United, while 20-year-old defender Callam Jones is currently with League Two Accrington Stanley.
Kyle Howkins, another 20-year-old defender, will spend the first half of the season at League Two Mansfield Town, and 19-year-old centre-back Shaun Donnellan will ply his trade in the same division with Stevenage,
Goalkeeper Ethan Ross, 19, has joined National League North side Worcester City.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis has been impressed with the talent on display in the Albion academy ever since he arrived at the club, but he's not a fan of under-21s football.
The Welshman believes lower level men's football is the best way to help the youngsters develop if they are not getting first team football at The Hawthorns.
"The most important thing for me is the kids' development," he said. "If it means they can play for us, brilliant, if they can't, get them out and get them some experience with the other clubs in lower leagues because there's nothing better than that."
Three teenagers who have not been sent out on loan yet and featured heavily for the first team in pre-season so far are Jonathan Leko, 17, Sam Field, 18, and right-back Kane Wilson, 16.
