Mega-rich Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group have sparked further speculation this morning they could be buying West Brom.

The huge multi-national corporation, which has China's richest man Wang Jianlin as chairman, revealed yesterday that it would be making an announcement this morning.

The tweet included images of Atletico Madrid, a Spanish club Jianlin already has a 20 per cent share of, and an Ironman race, suggesting the announcement was related to the sports and leisure industry.

But the tweet also includes the logo for Jianlin's AMC Entertainment Holdings company, which is believed to be nearing a deal for Carmike Cinemas Incorporation.

Nevertheless, Wanda have been linked with Albion in the past, so plenty of supporters started to put two and two together on social media.

However, the announcement was due for 11am in Beijing, China, which would have been 4am in the UK.

Therefore, it was unlikely to involve a joint-reveal with an English football club.

But this morning, not only did Wanda delay their impending announcement, they also responded to a West Brom fan, reassuring him that a separate tweet about cinema chains was not the news they had promised to deliver.

This is the second time in five days the huge Chinese company has spoken to Albion fans on Twitter, sparking further speculation a takeover could be imminent.

Jianlin is the richest man in China and was worth $28.7 billion last year.
