Baggies-mad Archie Palmer, 10, from Evesham found out his school pal Myles Hensley was diagnosed with cancer.

He immediately sprang into action and started a social media campaign to raise money for his best friend.

He started hoping to raise enough cash to buy Myles a Liverpool shirt, but the campaign captured the hearts and minds of football fans and snowballed.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson sent the boys a video message and a pair of signed boots and former Red Dietmar Hamann visited Myles in hospital.

Albion promised to honour the boys too and so, this Sunday, the boys will be special guests for the game against Liverpool at the Hawthorns.

He will get to step on to the pitch just before kick-off in order to deliver the match ball to the Premier League plinth.

Archie's mum Louise said: "They are so excited. They normally spend all their time arguing about football and Albion and Liverpool in particular.

"But they will probably be too star struck to say much on Sunday. Myles is doing very well and fighting hard. Nothing will keep him away from the Hawthorns I'm sure."

Archie started the Twitter campaign to get a Liverpool player to visit his friend in hospital in November.

More than 2,000 people retweeted his plea and Hamann noticed the appeal before making a 100-mile round trip to visit Myles in hospital.

Albion spotted the story and promised the boys they could be guests of honour at the final game of the season.
