Saido Berahino told to stay off social media

Goalkeeper Ben Foster has told team-mate Saido Berahino to stay off social media and focus on firing Albion to Premier League safety.

The 22-year-old will see out the season with the Baggies, despite constant speculation over his future during the recent transfer window.

Berahino issued an infamous strike threat on Twitter after being denied a move to Tottenham last summer. He then returned to social media to post a tongue-in-cheek message minutes before Monday's deadline, when it became apparent he would be staying at the Hawthorns.

Foster believes striker Berahino, who is still the club's top scorer this season with six goals despite not starting a Premier League game since October, would be best served putting distractions aside and concentrating on his game.

Asked if the striker should delete his Twitter account, Foster replied: "You're not wrong, yeah. Saido, at the end of the day, is a good lad.

"He doesn't need to do the silly things, but these days with the likes of Twitter and Instagram, that kind of stuff, people are getting in touch with him from all different corners of the world.

"In all honesty, the best thing to do would be to delete all that rubbish and just focus on playing football."

Berahino's continued omission from the starting line-up has been one of the major talking points of Albion's season and boss Tony Pulis has admitted he has been a shadow of the striker who scored 20 goals last term.

Foster believes the closure of the window is good news for everyone, as the Baggies look to avoid being sucked into a relegation scrap.

Foster said: "He (Berahino) just needs to focus and concentrate on his football, he knows he's here until the end of the season, it's as simple as that.

"You'd like to think he'll get his head down, get stuck in, and help us get out of this situation.

"We need to get a few more points on the board and pull away from that bottom, as its all getting a bit congested."
