'Bomber' urges Albion to crowd out visitors

Legend Tony 'Bomber' Brown thinks it's crucial West Brom start every home game with the same attacking intent they showed against Newcastle.

The first 15 minutes sets the tone for supporters for the rest of the match, according to the club's all-time record goalscorer.

Bomber said: "If you start the game that way with that positive attitude, I think that's what gets the crowd going behind you.

"They tend to react to that early pressure you put on the opposition."

Albion recorded their biggest gate of the season on Monday as a packed Hawthorns roared their team to victory. It was markedly different from most of the home games so far this season.

Bomber said: "They put a lot of effort in and the crowd got behind them. Which was a little bit different from the last home game, the Bournemouth game.

"That was very flat and quiet but I thought the crowd really got behind the lads (on Monday), and that does make a big difference. It's a great help to the players."

While the main focus was on Albion's attacking prowess, Bomber praised the defence, which recorded a first clean sheet in eight games.

He said: "We've got that solid look about us, every time we play. That's down to the way the manager sets the team up, very hard to beat.

"And I think that's your first priority, not giving goals away. I'm sure the manager just wants a few more goals in the side to put the icing on the cake, because we're set up very well at the back."
