Albion's Samir Nabi keen on loan move
West Brom academy midfielder Samir Nabi is desperate to go out on loan to a lower-league club in order to prove himself in senior football.
The 18-year-old has impressed for James Shan's under-21s this season, netting four goals.
Carlisle United, of League Two, were interested in picking up the box-to-box midfielder on loan before last night's deadline.
But the deal did not materialise, this time around. However, Samir is itching to get out and test himself.
He said: "I'm ready to go out on loan and play in the men's game. That's what my mind is focused on, at this moment of time. I want to get first-team football in my bank."
Samir is the younger brother of Adil Nabi, Albion's 21-year-old striker currently on loan at the Delhi Dynamos in India. He wants to follow his brother's footsteps and get first-team football.
He said: "We do train a lot with the first team at West Brom, but it's completely different actually being in that dressing room on a Saturday.
"Trying to perform in front of a crowd, integrating into the team, it would be a great experience and a different environment that I'm not used to."
Inspired by Dele Alli's stratospheric rise to the top, Nabi's ultimate aim is to play Premier League football for Albion, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.
He said: "Alli was playing for Milton Keynes Dons last season and now he's playing for Tottenham's first-team and scoring for the England senior side.
"Things can change for you quickly in football, so long as you keep on putting in the work and get the experience."
