Saido Berahino warned of Albion burn-out
West Brom boss Tony Pulis has admitted his burnout fears for hot-shot Saido Berahino – but hailed the striker's maturity since the start of 2015.
Pulis is concerned the 21-year-old will be fatigued after representing England at this summer's Under-21s European Championships in the Czech Republic.
But the Baggies boss, who rested Berahino from his starting line-up at Newcastle last weekend, is full of praise for the academy product's development in recent months.
He joked the forward should snub any offers of moves elsewhere, saying: " think he is enjoying his football and I think he has a better rapport now with everybody around the football club.
"He is a better lad than he was when I first walked through the door. He is much more open, more together and more integrated within the group.
"I think he could do with another 10 years at West Bromwich Albion!"
However, Pulis is worried about the effects of Berahino's demanding schedule.
The striker has figured from the start or as a substitute in each of Albion's 36 Premier League game so far and is set to link up with Gareth Southgate's Young Lions at the end of the domestic season.
Pulis said: "I am more concerned with the amount of games he has played. Even on Saturday at Newcastle we gave him a little bit of a rest.
"He'd been down to London for two days doing work for his charity and everything else, so we gave him a little bit of a rest.
"The lad has played and been involved in more games this year than he has ever been involved in, so it has been a little bit of a drain for him in some respects.
"It is not a physical burnout, it is a mental burn-out."
