West Bromwich Albion draw up emergency keeper list

Albion are drawing up a list of emergency goalkeepers in case current gloveman Boaz Myhill is ruled out in the next month.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis is weighing up their options if Myhill is laid low by injury or suspension while number one Ben Foster recovers from a knee injury.

Foster will be sidelined for at least a month after damaging cartilage in last weekend's win against Stoke, leaving Myhill and rookie Jack Rose to fill the breach.

Former Wales international Myhill will fill in for Foster while Rose will be on the substitutes' bench, but Albion are already plotting to replace Myhill if needs be to avoid throwing Rose into the Premier League before Pulis' men are mathematically safe.

The transfer window is closed but the Baggies could apply for special dispensation to loan an experienced goalkeeper or sign an out-of-contract player if they are left without a senior gloveman.

"We would have to speak to the Premier League and the FA to see if we could bring another experienced goalkeeper," said Pulis.

"Boaz, the times he's played for us, has been very good and we're very fortunate to have a back-up goalkeeper of that quality."

Myhill is set to play for at least a month and Foster's absence could stretch beyond the initial recovery time.

Former Hull man Myhill has played just twice in the Premier League this season including Saturday's substitute appearance against the Potters.

But Pulis said: "He's got great demeanour about him and nothing fazes him and that's really pleasing for us."

Meanwhile, Pulis says Saido Berahino should be honoured by his England Under-21s call-up despite being axed from the senior squad.

The Baggies' in-form hitman has netted 18 goals this season.
