The former Crystal Palace manager was officially unveiled as the new West Brom boss at a press conference this afternoon.

With a lot made of his new head coach role, Pulis confirmed it will be him who is identifying players to buy with a busy January transfer window ahead.

"I will have the final say on transfers," he said.

"There has been a lot said about how the club has been run in the past and how it will now run in the future with me coming in.

"People have asked whether I mind being called a head coach. You can call me a bottle washer if you want – it makes no difference to me as long as there are specific responsibilities I am in charge of.

"But the most important thing is that everyone works together.

"Having spoken to the chairman everyone understands the position we are in and what we have to do. Everyone needs to work together to make sure the club stays up."

Pulis believes the club needs to sign players in order to avoid dropping through the Premier League trap door.

"We need to use the transfer window to our advantage and bring a few players in," he said.

"We will then push on from there.

"I think at every football club, if there are players coming in there will probably be players going the other way.

"You have to balance the books and I think we have to do business. There are things that need to be addressed."

Despite his record keeping both Stoke and Crystal Palace in the top division, Pulis warned his arrival doesn't guarantee Albion's survival.

"This is the right club at the right time. I have got a decent record of going to clubs and turning them around," he said.

"Someone has just told me they have only won four games at The Hawthorns in 2014 so there has got to something wrong and something that needs sorting out.

"But irrespective of my record, everything I have done before is by the by.

"We are fighting to stay in the Premier League and there is a lot of hard work ahead.

"Just because I have walked in the door doesn't mean we are going to stay up."
