West Brom defender Joleon Lescott has declared himself available for a Baggies debut against Everton on Saturday and spoken of his delight at ending his injury nightmare.

Lescott completed 90 minutes in a training-ground friendly against Hull on Tuesday and boss Alan Irvine is now pondering whether to include the ex-England man in the squad to face their former club.

The ex-Wolves centre-back has yet to figure in a competitive game for the Baggies having played for just 35 minutes in a pre-season that was blighted by knee and calf injuries. Lescott said: I'm not sure of the manager's plans.

"If he asks me to play, obviously I would never rule myself out.

"Who knows what is in store? I'm just taking it day-by-day. If the manager sees fit for me to be involved at the weekend in some capacity then great.

"Having played for Everton in the past, I've got a lot of close friends there, it's always a special game against them but it will be a tough one.

"I look at the fixtures throughout the season and, having played for Everton and Manchester City, they're the ones you're looking at."

Lescott and fellow new arrival Sebastian Blanco played for 90 minutes in the behind-closed doors clash with the Tigers while Costa Rica full-back Cristian Gamboa completed 80 minutes.

And Lescott, who spent last week on an intensive training regime in the United States, was encouraged by the run-out.

He said: "I was obviously pleased to get 90 minutes and, touch wood, come through unscathed.

"I felt better than I thought I was going to feel, which was a surprise.

"It was a good test because Hull had a lot of first-team players playing, which is always good.

"It would have been nice to just play 90 minutes against anyone but at such a competitive level and at a good standard was very pleasing."
