Albion boss Steve Clarke today claimed the Baggies in good shape as they head for Fulham on Saturday targeting their first win of the season.

The Baggies travel to Craven Cottage with just one point and no goals from their opening three Premier League matches but are boosted by the deadline-day arrivals of Lee Camp, Morgan Amalfitano, Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe.

And Clarke is hoping the two-week international break before the weekend's match will also work in his side's favour.

"Since deadline day we have had Lee, Morgan and Victor able to train with the group, which is good.

"Stephane has been away with his country but he's back now.

"We're definitely in a better place as a squad because the squad is stronger now. It's competitive.

"Now we just need to get them working together and picking up points.

"This year the break came at a good time. Last year we were a bit disappointed it came when it did because we had started well.

"This year we haven't started well so it's nice to have got a little breather and done some good work in training.

"It was a busy transfer deadline day when we brought in some new players to help the group and I've managed to have some of them around in training to start working towards what will hopefully be a successful season.

"The deadline day was good for us because we got good players in – big players that will give us something different and improve the group. Hopefully that will show very quickly in the results."
