West Brom boss frustrated by international break
West Brom boss Steve Clarke today revealed his frustration with the international break as he admitted the Baggies' winless run is playing on his mind.
The Hawthorns head coach admitted he "can't relax" as his team look to end an eight-game search for a win that dates back to Boxing Day.
Clarke has seen many of his key players leave for international duty until the end of the week, leading to most others being given three days off before they return tomorrow to prepare for Monday's trip to Liverpool.
"I can't relax as we're in a bad run – we're not winning games," said Clarke, who was assistant to then-Reds boss Kenny Dalglish when the Baggies won 1-0 at Anfield last season with an Odemwingie winner.
"Earlier in the season it was nice and easy. At the moment it's a difficult time for us.
"Unfortunately, instead of having a week or a few days to work with the players before the next game, the vast majority have gone away on international duty.
"So, we'll have a couple of days where we shut down and try to clear our heads.
"It's good for the players that they can do that. The players looked a bit fresher on Sunday, they were lively and on the front foot from the start of the game.
"I'm not worried about that side of it. We'll be fresh enough and ready for the next game. It's a difficult gamed. But I know, because I was on the opposite side last season, that West Bromwich Albion are capable of going to Anfield and getting a positive result."
