Sweden international Markus Rosenberg jetted in to England today for talks with West Bromwich Albion as the Baggies attempted to tie up a deal for the striker.
The 29-year-old free agent was heading for Albion's training ground to negotiate a potential free transfer switch to the Premier League after his contract at Werder Bremen expired this summer.
The Baggies have been tracking the former Malmo, Halmstad and Ajax man for several months but had considered a host of potential targets for a centre-forward berth.
However, the club now appear to be homing in on the 6ft 1in tall target man after he arrived in the West Midlands this morning hoping to complete a move to England.
Rosenberg has played 33 times for Sweden, scoring six goals, and was part of his country's squad for Euro 2012.
The forward, who is friends with Baggies defender and fellow Swede Jonas Olsson, could become Albion's fourth signing of the summer after Ben Foster, Yassine El Ghanassy and Claudio Yacob, who is expected to start for the first time in Albion colours at Walsall tomorrow.
The Argentina international made his first appearance as a substitute at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Captain Chris Brunt missed out at Hillsborough and is not expected to figure at the Banks's Stadium as he continues to nurse a calf problem.
