West Brom are fully behind Jonas Olsson as he prepares to tackle Blackburn danger man Yakubu amid doubts about his Hawthorns future.

The Swedish international defender has admitted that he won't be making up his mind about a new contract until after next summer's European Championships.

Olsson is worried Baggies fans will view his doubts about committing himself to a long-term deal – expressed in an interview in a Danish newspaper – as disloyal.

But with the player on contract until the summer of 2013, head coach Roy Hodgson has no doubts about the player's commitment.

Hodgson said: "I'm always extremely cynical about interviews that come back to England via newspapers abroad – that's the first thing.

"Jonas Olsson is very happy at West Bromwich Albion and that's obvious by his loyalty to the club and by the way he plays.

"That he might harbour ambitions to move to one of the top four clubs in England – I don't think you could particularly hold that against him, could you?

"If he played so well for us that one of the top clubs in the country and abroad were tempting him and prizing him away, we'd have to live with that."

West Brom consider talks with Olsson, who is in the squad to go to Ewood Park tomorrow, as 'on-going.'

Hodgson added: "He's had serious discussions about extending his contract, he's got 18 months to go."
