Steven Reid admits Zoltan Gera's injury has been a blow to Albion's morale in the build-up to Saturday's QPR game.

"I am devastated for Zolly as a player and as a team-mate," said the Albion defender who fought his own gruelling injury battles during a four-year stint at Blackburn.

Gera's knee injury is still being assessed but supporters have been warned to expect to be without the popular Hungarian international for "the forseeable future."

"It's a blow to the team but first and foremost your thoughts go out to him," added Reid. "We just hope his rehab goes well and he's back as soon as possible.

"I've been in similar situations, where I've had long-term injuries, come back for a spell, and then been out with another problem. If there is anything I can do to help him in his rehab then I will do. He's a great lad."

Meanwhile, Albion's confirmed interest in Scotland Under-21 midfielder Scott Allan, who has turned down a new contract with Dundee United, took a fresh twist today.

Rangers were thought to be favourites to land the 20-year-old in January for as little as £400,000. But speculation in Scotland claims Allan is eyeing a move to the Premier League and favours Albion.

*Figures today confirmed that Albion's transfer activity led to £1.3m in agents' fees from October 2010 to September 2011.
