Sven-Goran Eriksson will consider signing Ishmael Miller on loan for Leicester after watching the Albion striker in action for the reserves.

The former England boss was at the Baggies training ground yesterday to watch Miller score twice in the second string's 5-4 defeat to Chelsea.

Eriksson admitted that, as well as checking out Albion players who could face his Foxes team in the Carling Cup next week, he was also on the lookout for potential loan signings.

He said: "It is a little bit of both. There were a lot of good football players out there and I wanted to see if there was something we could need.

"But also we are meeting West Bromwich next week so it was useful."

Eriksson is known to be considering a move for Miller, who played 45 minutes yesterday to step up his comeback from a calf injury.

But, while he was full of praise for the powerful Albion forward, the Leicester manager refused to confirm whether he would pursue a loan deal.

He said: "I know him. I had him before at Manchester City and he is a good player. But I haven't decided anything yet.

"We will see what happens."

Albion will not consider Miller for Saturday's home game with Fulham, which will see former Baggies captain Jonathan Greening facing his old club.

And Hawthorns boss Roberto Di Matteo has paid tribute to Greening's attitude, despite the midfielder making clear his desire to leave in the Italian's opening weeks in charge.

Di Matteo said: "He was with us for about four to six weeks. He played against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest and I enjoyed having him here.

"He was a great professional and a very good character but I didn't get to know him beyond that.

"He was very determined to stay in the Premier League and he made that very clear from day one. I respected him for that and he moved on.

"He was a good servant for the club."
