Money eyes Den raid

Walsall are hoping a South London smash and grab raid can help them score their first victory of the season at Millwall tomorrow.

Manager Richard Money has ditched plans for an overnight stay in the capital in the hope that a change of routine will bring about a change of fortunes.

The Saddlers will leave the Banks's Stadium at breakfast time for the long trip south of the Thames.

"I think when results are like they are at the moment the last thing you want is for players to be away for longer than they need to be," said Money, whose team have drawn two and lost three of their five games so far.

"We want to come in bright and fresh on Saturday morning, get down there, have 'a pre-match', do the job and come back.

"That's the way I'm looking at it at the moment."

And Money will order his Saddlers players to fly from the blocks in an effort to unsettle a Millwall side who are also struggling having won just one of their five games to date.

The manager is keen to silence the famously vociferous crowd at The Den.

"It's always a tough place to go," said Money. "The natives can be very restless there but they can also be very supportive.

"We've got to go there and make sure we start very well.

"They have had an indifferent spell themselves and hopefully that can work to our advantage.

"But if they start well and get themselves in front they could have some very vocal support.

"Both teams need a result and that should make for a very exciting game."

Money does not believe his side have received just rewards for their efforts this season but the manager has urged his troops not to dwell on their misfortune.

He said: "We should have won at Leyton Orient, should have got something at Gillingham and we should have won against Port Vale.

"By my reckoning we should have eight points from the first five matches, that's what I think we've deserved, but we've got two.

"Now we have to start the next group of five games buoyed by a clean sheet and go into this match meeting the challenge.

"The next five games are difficult but they are all difficult.

"You get spells in a season where things just don't seem to be going your way.

"But there is no point moaning about it, you've got to make it turn and when you look at some of the chances maybe people haven't gone in there as confidently as we would have liked.

"That's the way it is and we just need something to go in to give us that spark."

Tommy Mooeny is injured and Money could also be without captain Michael Dobson. He is close to full fitness after injury but he missed training this week following the death of his father on Monday.

Millwall: Day, Senda, Robinson, Shaw, Frampton, Smith, Brammer, O'Hara, Dunne, Simpson, Alexander.

Walsall: Ince, Weston, Roper, Dann, Boertien, Wrack, Dobson, Sonner, Fox, Butler, Hall.
