Walsall reportedly set to appoint interim boss Darren Byfield until end of the season
Walsall are reportedly set to appoint interim boss Darren Byfield until the end of the season.
Byfield has collected four points from a possible six in his two games in interim charge since the departure of Mat Sadler last week.
The Saddlers eased to a 3-0 victory at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, before earning a creditable goalless draw against Cambridge United at Bescot on Tuesday.
According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, the past two games have impressed Trivela who are poised to offer Byfield the job.
Former West Brom and Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell was also linked with the post, while Darren Moore was the early bookmakers' favourite.
Ex-Gillingham and Barrow manager Stephen Clemence was also in the Bescot crowd to watch the draw against Cambridge.
