Jamille Matt hails interim Darren Byfield's "positive influence" at Walsall
Walsall captain Jamille Matt has praised Darren Byfield for continuing to be a "positive influence" in the wake of Mat Sadler's departure as head coach last week.
Byfield won his first game in interim charge, as Walsall defeated Crewe Alexandra 3-0 at the Mornflake Stadium on Saturday.
"It's continuity but Daz is always a positive influence. He knows all of the lads because he has been in the building," Matt said.
"Obviously he has had to tweak a few things because there has been a change and you can't do the same things as before.
"He's just figuring out how that looks. Daz has been brilliant over the last few days.
"Things have moved fast but we're picking things up in terms of what he wants from us and it's all positive."
