It is also the hometown of Walsall defender Evan Weir - who hailed from humble roots and progressed all the way to the Football League.

Tracing back his steps, Weir cracks into a smile and puffs his cheeks in exasperation when asked if he could ever have imagined playing professionally when he was a young boy growing up in Ratoath.

"I came over as a little lad from my local town Ratoath and playing in big games are a big dream," Weir beamed.

"Back home, a lot of lads would look at me and think I'd love to be where he is.

"I love the village where I am from and the people who live there are amazing.

"To be able to be known as the lad from the village who plays football in the UK is a fantastic feeling."
