Non-league round-up: Hednesford Town miss chance to go top of Northern Premier
Hednesford Town missed the chance to leapfrog Northern Premier leaders Hebburn Town after drawing 0-0 against Whitby Town at Keys Park.
The Pitmen, in second-place, remain locked on 53 points with Hebburn, who occupy top spot on goal difference alone.
Omari Sterling-James chipped a speculative shot from distance on to the roof of the net, before Montel Gibson was denied one-on-one by Hebburn goalkeeper Isaac Allan.
Allan produced an outstanding finger-tip stop to thwart Akheem Rose's stooping header and clawed away a low drive by Dan Trickett-Smith during the second half.
Hebburn dropped points after drawing 1-1 against Warrington Rylands and will travel to Hednesford in their top-of-the-table tussle on Tuesday.

"A frustrating day," Hednesford boss Gavin Hurren said. "In the first half, especially, we played some good stuff.
"I thought we should've came in at half-time at least one up with the opportunities that we made.
"Off the ball, our shape is tough to break. We look really disciplined, we look professional.
"It's just frustrating that when we do go forward, we've got to be better at putting the ball in the back of the net.
"We can say that to the forwards, the midfielders, the wide men. As a collective, we have to do better when he get into that final third."

Two local games did go ahead in the Northern One West, as Sporting Khalsa and Stafford Rangers boosted their survival prospects with wins.
Khalsa enjoyed a crucial 3-1 victory at Shifnal Town to climb two points clear of the relegation zone.

Sam Fitzgerald missed an early penalty for Khalsa, but they went ahead just past the half-hour mark when Gaz Singh added the finishing touches to a brilliant attack.
Chay Tilt doubled the visitors' lead in the 65th-minute, before Andre Landell put the seal on the win 14 minutes from time.
Macauley Taylor reduced the arrears for Shifnal in stoppage time, but Khalsa ultimately registered their first away win since October 11.
Stafford Rangers also moved two points above the dotted line with a 3-1 success at Witton Albion.

John Atherton seized on a pass in behind by Kaiman Anderson and finished confidently to fire Rangers into a 19th-minute lead.
Anderson was at the heart of the action once again, as Stafford doubled their advantage two minutes into the second half.
His cross took a telling deflection off Geffry Ebhote to spin into the back of the net, before Jack Birch made it 3-0 from the spot just seven minutes later.
Tom Hoyle pulled one back for Witton just past the hour-mark but Rangers went on to make it back-to-back wins.

Lichfield City suffered their seventh defeat in eight games after they were downed 2-0 by Boldmere St Michaels on home soil in the Northern One Midlands.
Pedro Lima delivered the breakthrough for Boldmere four minutes into the second half, before James Tague added their second eight minutes from time.
