The 32-year-old has not featured since suffering the injury during the Saddlers' 2-0 win at Gateshead in the FA Cup on December 7.

Roofe went for a scan last week and the results have revealed that he will be out of action until at least mid-February.

"We're looking at around six to seven weeks with Kemar. His initial scan was potentially looking at a lot longer than that which would've been devastating for him," boss Sadler said.

"Upon seeing a consultant, he has brought that time period down. Now it's rehab time for him and getting things right."

His short-term deal is due to expire on January 1, although Sadler has remained tight-lipped on what the future could hold for Roofe beyond January.
