Walsall predicted XI: Options aplenty for table-topping Saddlers against Shrewsbury

Predicting the Walsall team has suddenly become a much tougher assignment in recent weeks.

Mat Sadler made no fewer than six changes for the Saddlers' 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic on Boundary Park and it is feasible that alterations could be made again against Shrewsbury Town.

That might go against the golden rule of never changing a winning team, but such is the quality in Walsall's ranks, that they could actually afford to do so.

Will Sadler change a winning team?

Walsall defender Evan Weir is one of nine players out of contract at the end of the season.
Evan Weir didn't feature for Walsall in the league for the first time since August 19 in the win at Oldham.

Evan Weir was handed a rare rest and could be recalled at the expense of Derby County loanee Dan Cox, who did his chances no harm whatsoever with a steady display in Greater Manchester on Wednesday.

Brandon Comley brought aggression when he was introduced at the base of midfield and it will be a toss-up once again between himself and Lewis Warrington in the No 6 role.

Vincent Harper stepped in for Jid Okeke, who missed out due to a minor back injury, but is expected to be available for the visit of Shrewsbury.

That leaves Sadler with a difficult decision to make. Both offer different qualities, with Harper providing balance and Okeke offering an exciting attacking threat.
