'Opened the door' - Mat Sadler rues Walsall's missed chances in Shrewsbury draw
Mat Sadler says Walsall paid the price for "not taking the game away" from Shrewsbury Town in the first half after they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at Bescot.
Daniel Kanu opened the scoring when he rifled a rocket in off the crossbar from 20 yards out to extend his season tally to 11 goals in all competitions.
The Charlton Athletic loanee fired straight at Will Brook from close-range moments later and Connor Barrett blazed over another chance.
Shrewsbury kept themselves in the game and levelled just past the hour-mark via a deflected goal from Tom Anderson.
Sadler felt Walsall left themselves open to an equaliser after failing to extend their advantage.
"Going 1-0 up so early, it felt like we were going to go on and get that second goal," boss Sadler observed.

"That first half was maybe the time to take the game away from them because we were on the front-foot.
