'A promise' - Mat Sadler explains why Romaine Sawyers is training with Walsall again
Romaine Sawyers is back training with former club Walsall, but Mat Sadler has confirmed that the club won't be pursuing a move for the midfielder.
The 34-year-old, who featured for the Saddlers on trial during pre-season, is yet to find a new club since leaving Bristol Rovers at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Sawyers played five times for Walsall in pre-season but was unable to land a deal, nine years on from his previous spell at Bescot.
Sadler has revealed that Sawyers is purely training with the squad at Essington to keep fit, as part of a promise he made back in the summer.
