Since joining Walsall from non-league Eastbourne Borough, Clarke has switched from wing-back to midfield.

But his current role in the heart of midfield is where he feels he can express himself best.

'I even played as a goalkeeper'

Courtney Clarke could make his first league start for Walsall if Jamie Jellis is not passed fit on the weekend.
Clarke has made four assists since joining Walsall in the summer.

"I like playing in the eight. That's my favourite role and I feel like I can push even more there," Clarke said.

"I started off as a striker and played there from about nine until 13. Then I played as a goalkeeper for a whole year.

"Then I was playing left-back for my district and for my team I played as a striker, or on the wing.
