Jonny Stuttle and Mason Hancock were replaced either side of half-time, after the pair suffered knee injuries in the Saddlers' 1-0 home defeat against Grimsby Town on Tuesday night.

Mat Sadler conceded afterwards that he fears both could be out for a "significant" period and this latest double injury blow could force him to dip back into the transfer market.

The Walsall boss expects the picture to look clearer in the "next 24 hours" as the club brace themselves for the full extent of both injuries.

Evan Weir's possible return and a league debut for Vincent Harper?

Hancock's injury is not only likely to impact the selection at left wing-back, but the absence of his set piece threat has only increased the demand for Evan Weir to be recalled.

Weir scored a memorable free-kick eight minutes into their season opener against Swindon Town and appeared to do very little wrong in the 1-0 defeat at Gillingham seven days later

Mason Hancock was the second Walsall player to be forced off with injury.
Walsall left wing-back Mason Hancock had to be stretchered off against Grimsby on Tuesday.
