'I feel there is more to come from me at Walsall this season' - Aaron Pressley

Walsall striker Aaron Pressley believes there is "more to come" from him next season after making a promising start to life at Bescot.

The 23-year-old, who joined from Stevenage on a three-year deal with an option year earlier in the summer, found the net three times during pre-season.

His goal scoring record has not been prolific so far, although he scored four goals in 10 games when afforded a consistent run of games on loan at Barrow during the second half of last season.

Pressley is expected to lead the line from the start during the Saddlers' league opener against Swindon Town at Bescot on Saturday and hopes he can continue to consolidate his solid start.

"In terms of my play with my back to goal, I think I need to be reliable, I need to compete, win my duels and do the basics well," Pressley said.

"It's the same in every position in this league. You need to do the basics first, work your socks off for the team and that's what the manager expects of me.

"I hope that I've made an impression but I feel there's a lot more to come from me. In terms of getting a run of games together, there's a lot more to come and hopefully we can see that in the next couple of weeks."

The Scotsman has struck up a blossoming partnership with Bournemouth loanee Jonny Stuttle of late, with the pair's contrasting styles complementing one another effectively.

Bournemouth loanee Stuttle scored against Derby County and Forest Green last week, before Pressley joined him on the score sheet in a 3-0 win over the latter

Mason Hancock was the architect for both goals with a pair of excellent crosses from the right-hand side to put Walsall in the driving seat before half-time in Gloucestershire.

Pressley has also fed off the service of Connor Barrett from the right, including a spectacular header in a 4-0 win at Leamington in their pre-season opener earlier this month.

Aside from Barrett and Hancock, Walsall have equipped themselves with plenty of options at wing-back with Courtney Clarke and Vincent Harper set to provide stern competition.

Walsall striker Aaron Pressley has scored twice in pre-season since arriving from Stevenage this summer.

Harper got off the mark in a 3-2 defeat against Derby last Tuesday, while Courtney Clarke scored his first goal in a 3-2 win over West Brom's under-21s behind-closed-doors this week.

And Pressley is excited by the prospect of linking up with all four, who he feels will provide him with the service he needs to excel.

"That's one of the main things as a striker. You're expected to score goals, especially when we've got the players that we do in the team," he added.

"The wing-backs want to cross the ball. We've got loads of players with great delivery and as a striker you're expected to be in there to put it in the back of the net.

"Me and Jonny have been doing that and hopefully we can take that into the season. The other strikers that we've got complement each other well and there's some really good combinations there."
