“I’m delighted to be with the club,” Guthrie said.

“I have been here just over a week now training with the lads and I played on Tuesday night (against Leamington).

“They are a great set of lads and the coaching staff are great as well. There is great energy in the group and hopefully I can bring a bit of experience and composure.

“The gaffer is looking to bring a good mix of youth and experience into the squad so that we can give it a really good push this season.

“No team goes through a season without a sticky patch and that is why we need a few experienced lads who have been there and done it before.

“It’s all about getting the right mix in the squad. You need a bit of everything and hopefully I can help with my experience.”

Manager Darrell Clarke added: “Danny’s career speaks for itself. He’s been with us the last week or so and I’ve been really pleased with him.

“He adds that experience and you need a good balance in League Two of plenty of energy and a bit of know-how.

“He’s someone the younger players in the dressing room will look up to and he can help them progress.”
