The Saddlers welcome MK Dons to the Banks's Stadium tomorrow with the winners of the clash guaranteed to finish 12th in the division.

And Whitney, who experimented with his squad for Tuesday's defeat to Port Vale, says all his players are determined to end the campaign on a positive note.

"Whoever wins finishes 12th so that is the target for me and my players," he said.

"We want a top-half finish, especially for the fans.

"I will look to experiment. I want to have another look at a few players to see if they can do it in consecutive games because that may change my options moving forward.

"But it's always great to play in your last home game. There is always a really good atmosphere and we'll be looking to go out with a bang.

"It's really important to finish well and it would be nice to finish in the top half.

"Even my little boy, Oliver, when it comes up with the table on Sky Sports and we are on the first screen he says 'you're on the first screen dad.'

"He is only seven, but even for him it's better to be on that first screen. It's all these little things so we are determined to win the game and finish as high as we can."

The Saddlers look set to welcome talisman Erhun Oztumner back into the starting line-up for the visit of Robbie Neilson's men.

Walsall's top scorer has struggled for fitness over the past few weeks having picked up an ankle injury at Southend back in March.

But Whitney says the 25-year-old is eager to play tomorrow.

"He wants to get his 15th goal," the boss said.

"Like a lot of the players he has got little targets and 15 goals sounds better than 14.

"For others there are bonuses to play for as well. Little clauses. There are still things players are pushing for.

"We are trying to keep the players motivated to finish on and a high and achieve their objectives."
