Walsall transfer news: Jon Whitney's loan watch after missing out on Danny Rowe

Boss Jon Whitney says will only look to bring in the 'right' type of player during the transfer window as he admits to be being open for business.

The Saddlers manager saw his number one transfer target Danny Rowe snapped up by Championship side Ipswich from non-league side Macclesfield Town.

But the Walsall boss said he won't be bringing anyone in 'just to make up numbers' as the January transfer window closes today at 11pm.

He will be looking to bring in players on loan and he hopes to be able to do deals for a 'couple' of new faces.

He said: "

It is difficult to say whether we will bring anyone in permanently or on loan. It will probably be loan moves now. It has to be the right person. I wouldn't rule out a permanent move but Danny was going to be my main target. We lost out last minute for him. We had put increased bids on the table with Macclesfield for three weeks, but Ipswich have come in and taken him."
